SUMMARY: This position is responsible for
reviewing and approving nutrition data for print, verification of nutrition
information, nutrient content claims and integration of nutrition data into
Tyson nutrition systems. Position works closely with R&D, Sales, Marketing,
Quality Assurance, Purchasing, Consumer Relations, and Corporate Lab to
create nutrition facts panel and or provide requested or required nutrition
data; provides technical expertise in analyzing and interpreting nutrition
research; ensures accuracy of nutrient data of company products and
ingredients; maintains knowledge of federal and corporate standards for
nutrition labeling and product development; maintains professional
competency and skills required for professional practice; complete special
projects as needed. Other duties may be assigned as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Current Registered Dietitian credentials (approved by
Commission on Accreditation from Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics), with
certification/license as required by state. MS preferred, granted by a US
regionally accredited college or university with completion of a didactic
program in dietetics and supervised practice program. Requires broad
technical knowledge related to human nutrition, nutrition science and food
science.
Experience: 1+ years' work experience in Research and Product
Development or related field. Familiarity with food allergens and
Child/Adult feeding programs preferred.
Computer Skills: Intermediate computer skills with ability to create
business letters, spreadsheets, simple queries, power point; Access
experience a plus.
Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills
with customer service attitude; good business phone etiquette.
Special Skills: Must have good mathematical skills; basic office
skills; understanding of nutrient composition for nutrition analysis.
Advanced understanding of food ingredients and food preparation techniques
needed. Attention to detail and organizational skills required; ability to
function as part of a team as well as work independently.
Supervisory: This position may be responsible for supervising
support staff.
