Food Safety Specialist - IL-Chicago
Position
Summary
Manage Regulatory and Food Safety documentation coming to
Hillshire Brands from Suppliers and Co-manufacturers. Develop reports for
monitoring the ingredient and food safety approval processes. Manage
software systems designed to approve and track ingredients and ingredient
suppliers. Assists Regulatory and Food Safety managers in projects and
initiatives for our customers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Electronically captures,
organizes and evaluates food safety and ingredient documentation which
comes to Hillshire Brands from Suppliers and Co-Manufacturers.
- Monitors compliance and
performance through evaluation of the documentation received from
Suppliers and Co-manufacturers.
- Follows up and resolves
issues with Co-manufacturers and Suppliers when documentation
indicates possible deficiencies/clarifications and corrective actions.
- Manages Regulatory and Food
Safety approval of ingredients and ingredient suppliers.
- Maintains and updates
Regulatory and Food Safety databases under the directions of
Regulatory and Food Safety managers.
- Handles requests for 3rd
party audits, compliance sign-offs, and surveys from all new
Co-manufacturers and Suppliers.
- Requests and reviews 3rd
Party audits on an annual basis from Co-manufacturers & Suppliers.
- Assists in supplier food
safety certification projects and other Regulatory and Food Safety
initiatives.
- Writes food safety policies
in ISO format for FSSA.
- Manages inventory holds for
samples and product releases as required.
- Manages KPI tracking of
processes and programs for the purpose of understanding and improving
timing and performance of our processes.
- Assists in Regulatory and
Food Safety product and ingredient spreadsheets, reports and requests
by internal and external customers.
- Assists in invoicing and
documentation for Regulatory and Food Safety.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor Science Degree in
Food Science or related field preferred
- One to five years experience in food safety, regulatory and/or
quality with food products preferred
- Knowledge of Regulatory and
Food Law
- Knowledge of food safety
principles and food processing
- HACCP Certified preferred
- Computer software knowledge
in Excel, Access, SAP required
- Effective written and verbal
communication skills with internal customers, external suppliers and
co- manufacturers
