Food Safety Specialist – Williamsburg, VA


The Food Safety Specialist will effectively plan and execute the parks' safety program; including facilitating Managers Food Safety Training, routine restaurant health and safety inspections, facility leadership food safety self-inspections, support the warehouse food safety program, train and educate team members regarding food safety and work with the local health department to ensure all state and county guidelines are being met.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

§  Plan and facilitate ServSafe Food Safety Managers Certification training to ensure BGW and WCUSA remain compliant with corporate guidelines

§  Further develop and reinforce food safety knowledge with front line team members and supervisors through daily interaction

§  Develop and implement procedures to ensure food safety guidelines are consistently met in the flow of food through our operations

§  Document all formal food safety training

§  Conduct weekly food safety inspections in all Culinary facilities to ensure minimum guidelines are met in regards to food safety. * Establish procedure to communicate inspection results to the department. Follow up with facility leadership on all outstanding food safety concerns

§  Accompany the health department on all facility tours and inspections and record results on the Corporate Culinary drive

§  Ensure proper execution of the Facility Food Safety Self-Inspection program, including holding leadership accountable for all inspections and for correcting any concerns noted during the inspection process

§  Facilitate, when available, food safety training for culinary and warehouse team members

Candidates with the following qualifications will be considered:

§  High School Diploma/GED required

§  Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences or Biology preferred

§  At least three years of environmental health experience in a restaurant environment

§  Flexible availability to include weekdays, weekends, early mornings, and late nights

§  Excellent presentation skills

§  Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications

§  Ability to obtain ServSafe Food Safety Managers certification and ServSafe instructor/proctor certifications
