Purpose
of Role: Manage all commercial
activities related to Packaging, Packaging Graphics, and Capital/MRO
(including stockroom) for Mars Food North America sites and its flexible
manufacturing network with a total spend of $41mln. Develop and implement
competitive buying and supplier strategies that deliver reliable and
uninterrupted supply within specification. Improve cost structure and
efficiency in the value stream. Reduce risk and leverage supplier
capabilities that deliver benefit to the business. Lead the entire packaging
graphics change process. Maximize value for
money in the area of all services procurement for Mars Food US with a total
spend of $59mln and select services required by the Global Food management
Team. Manage price, performance and legal risks associated with the
category, while facilitating towards best value between internal client,
supplier and business objectives. Staff, develop and
lead a high performing and engaged team of Commercial associates that applies
discipline in the Activity Management processes and is
responsive to the needs of internal clients. Principal
Accountabilities: Ø Analyze markets, develop
buying and negotiation strategies and perform correct judgment that delivers
to Mars Food a competitive procurement advantage and maximizes "value
for money". Ø Based on robust market analysis, provide accurate
price forecasts to the business, be accountable for any variances to price
forecasts and deliver the appropriate communications on budget variances
and financial risks and opportunities to the business. Ø Develop optimal supplier selections, strategies and
relationships that deliver reliable and cost effective supply and leverage
suppliers' technical and innovative capabilities. Ø Ensure proper commercial terms and contracts exist
that minimize commercial and intellectual property risk for Mars Food. Ø Lead the drive for flawless pipeline execution that
delivers reliable, uninterrupted supply, within specification and achieves
target service levels. Ø Initiate and deliver improvements in supply chain
responsiveness and reduce lead-times. Ø Develop and lead the graphics change process required
to support the activity plan. Influence all stakeholders to deliver graphics
change Best Practice and ensure proper execution of all changes within a
documented process along with timely implementation. Ø Lead a Graphics Process continuous improvement program
to reduce the concept to print timelines. Scope includes process improvement,
technology recommendation and process/ systems change
implementation. Ø Maximize working capital through optimal material
inventories and supplier payment terms while meeting business requirements
and delivering target levels of customer services. Ø Lead commercial and cross-functional cost savings
initiatives that reduce total supply chain costs. Ø Leverage supplier's R&D resources to bring
innovations to Mars Food. Work in concert with R&D to deliver relevant,
on-strategy innovations. Ø Maintain effective communication, planning and
execution protocols with key cross-functional teammates within the Activity
Management process. Ø Maintain effective communications and relations with
key internal clients as well as regional and global counterparts. Ensure
appropriate commercial representation in applicable internal business
processes. Ø Attract, retain, and motivate a team of associates.
Develop associates in Commercial Competencies and Mars Effectiveness
Competencies. Create an energizing work environment that ensures an engaged and high
performing team. Bachelors' degree required MBA preferred in business, economics, supply chain or related
discipline. A formal education in packaging science would also be desirable. |
