Quality Engineer Food Safety & Regulatory - Ohio

 

The Quality and Regulatory Operations (QRO) organization leads delivery of product quality, food safety, regulatory requirements and productivity to meet our customer and consumer expectations and our business needs.

As a Quality Engineer in our dry mix facility, you will drive product quality, food safety, regulatory requirements and productivity to meet our customer/consumer expectations and our business needs. New flour crop transition, trial orders, new product start-ups, and reformulations are just a few of the numerous opportunities you will have to partner with our suppliers, cross-functional teams, R&D, Sales, and our customers to deliver consistent, high quality mixes.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role you will:

Provide QRO leadership and direction through technical mastery in the areas of regulatory compliance, SPC, dry mix processing/packaging, sanitation, hold order management and food safety risk mitigation.

Provide plant technical support for new products, reformulations, and projects.

Partner with operations, maintenance, sanitation and engineering to continuously reduce risk within operating plant.

Ensure our facility meets Food Safety & Regulatory policies.

Assist in customer and 3rd party audits.

Provide training in the areas of quality systems, SPC, regulatory, and food safety.
Collaborate with sales and R&D to address product issues.

Provide functional leadership to department to support Plant objectives.

Drive Continuous Improvement methodologies.

Ability to be flexible with work hours, shifting priorities, and ambiguity.

Develop action plans with Operations, R&D, Engineering, and QRO teams to insure product specifications, analytical procedures and sampling programs are appropriate and meet system capability and key consumer requirements.

Using quality engineering principles to collect, analyze and interpret in-process and analytical data to make quality evaluations, recommend actions for improvement and assure resolution.

Provide risk assessment analysis and manage issues with non-conforming product to ensure proper control, minimize losses, and provide analysis to eliminate future occurrences.

Review plans for new processing and packaging systems and ensure an effective product safety and sanitation design.

Provide leadership and technical expertise in activities related to ingredients, analytical methods, and data management.

Ensure the facility meets all GMP, HACCP, regulatory, sanitation, and product safety guidelines.

Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Engineering or similar

3+ years' Quality Engineering experience in food manufacturing
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in Food Science, Engineering or similar

ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
