Lab Support, a division on On Assignment, the company run by scientists for scientists currently has SEVERAL opportunities for Food and Beverage Technologists for all backgrounds and levels for food companies in Philadelphia and New Jersey.

We are looking for 1st shift candidates (flexibility needed) for immediate direct hire opportunities.

Food Scientist—Product Development—Direct Hire Position
Applies scientific principles in research, development, production, technology, quality control, packaging and processing of nutritionally designed foods and dietary supplements.
Conducts basic nutrition research for the development of programs to support product utilization.
Conducts bench top product development of nutritional food supplements, taking product from original concept to completion of manufacturing process.
Researches and develops nutrition and product parameters for unique applications in new market places.
Researches methods to support development of new product and program concepts.
Evaluates raw materials and finished product contract manufacturers for product quality and process feasibility.
Provides evaluation and recommendations for product improvements by addressing flavor, texture, nutritional value, convenience, composition and cost.
Recommends specific ingredient, processes and packaging materials.
Provides technical support to current customer base.
Performs miscellaneous quality control duties.
Candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) or Master's degree (M.A.) in Food Science, Nutrition or related field from four-year college or university and minimum of three years applied experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Applications Food Scientist—Direct Hire
Developing new juices, drinks, cocktails, teas, new age beverages and sauces as well as line extensions. Manage development, formulation, and duplication of new products from conception to shelf. Previous product development experience required.
Current product reformulation from bench top through manufacturing and scale up.
The emphasis of this position will be on developing new organic products, nutrient beverages and away from home products.
Candidate must have over five years of demonstrated accomplishments in product development, including experience in matching flavors. A knowledge of organic requirements and HACCP is a plus but not a requirement. A B.S. in Food Science (Master’s preferred) or related technical degree is required. A successful candidate will possess strong technical skills and the ability to work in a diverse environment with a variety of functional counterparts. A positive attitude and self-starting approach are essential to success in this position.

Beverage Food Technologist—Direct hire
The primary function of this job is to be dedicated to developing high quality commercially viable flavor application vehicles for beverages and to test and present products that are cost effective, of quality, unique and make our customer products better. The incumbent will be responsible for testing new products in test kitchen and developing specific processing methods in lab, and will confer with Sales Team and Flavorists on projects to meet customer’s requirements or to invent new recipes and ideas.

• B.S. in Chemistry preferred or Food Science with 5 to 7 years of progressive responsibility in a Flavor manufacturing environment.
