Their Custom Ingredients Group serves the needs of the food processing industry with innovative whey products that are all specially derived from 100%, farm-fresh, Grade A milk. They provide highly functional solutions for a wide variety of food formulation challenges in products like ice cream, baby foods, dairy dips and spreads, salad dressings, sauces, gravies, seasonings and many others.

Position Summary:

Using established methods and technologies; the Food Technician will design and develop specialty products used for customer demonstrations.  Through experimental design, this role will be responsible for conducting product trials and data analysis to complete projects related to Custom Ingredients research and development.

 

Essential Responsibilities:


Develop and Conduct Experiments or Trials for Custom Ingredients Group Application Support

 

·         Under direct supervision, performs semi-complex work utilizing established methods and techniques; follows procedures within framework of applied technology; Authority within established precedents or well defined policy with regular managerial direction and review

·         Minimal responsibility for equipment and moderate responsibility for customer satisfaction;  Internal contacts with other departments limited to non-controversial and technical matters

·         Design, develop and/or refine prototype formulations for presentations and demonstrations to customers

·         Utilize scientific methods, including development of project scopes, experimental design, and statistical analysis, to develop relevant applications formulations to support new product development

·         Conduct, participate in and/or supervise the execution of experiments or trials, including equipment set up and clean up, trial execution, and data collection to identify potential new applications for use of company ingredients

·         Collaborate with other Technology, Engineering or Operations Associates, as needed, to complete assigned projects

 

Administrative

 

·         Provide and complete all administrative duties within a professional format and within the period given

·         Monitor progress through sales portal reports, CRM and data warehousing

·         Guide Pizzeria Specialists where applies, recommend strategy adjustments, and assist if necessary in the implementation of these strategies to achieve the company’s goals

·         Analyze market data, monitor product growth by distributor. Report overall market activities to Regional Manager

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

0-2 years of experience in food product development, preferably with Dairy Science or functional ingredients

 

Experience Requirements:

·         Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, new laboratory procedures, and testing equipment

·         Ability to understand complex test results and their application

·         Ability to understand statistical theory and techniques for data analysis

·         Good computer skills in MS Office Suite

·         Ability to communicate technical information in oral and written form

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Food Science or related field; OR equivalent education and experience
