Job Posting- Food Safety Coordinator, Pet Food Manufacturing Multiple Locations Ogden, UT Phoenix, AZ Woodland, WA Emporia, KS Hazleton, PA

JOB DESCRIPTION: Coordinate broad quality and food safety policies and procedures in a Pet Food processing facility. Coordinate projects as needed and support others within the group, including Supplier Quality Pro-grams, Safe Quality Foods Programs, etc.

ESSENTIAL TASKS: •Assure that Regulatory programs (HACCP, SSOPs, SOPs) are implemented, understood, routinely assessed, improved upon and well-maintained. •Assure that GMPs and food safety procedures are understood, instilled at all levels of employment and monitored throughout all areas of the facility. •Assure that Microbial programs are implemented, routinely assessed, improved upon and well-maintained. These programs include but are not limited to: environmental monitoring and pathogen testing of products as directed by company policy. •Coordinate external and internal quality / food safety audits for the facility. •Lead cross-functional teams to drive selected quality or food safety programs. Examples include "monthly food safety facility inspections", "monthly glass and plastic inspection", "HACCP team meetings", “Food Safety Committee”. •Conduct training session’s specific to food safety and quality. •Maintain KPI’s related to food safety, sanitation, pest control and internal and external audits and work with the Director of Food Safety to generate and maintain performance metrics. •Coordinate and assure conformance to Safe Quality Food (SQF) initiative. •Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS: : •Must have one of the following: a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Food Science or related discipline and at least two (2) years’ experience in the food industry. Associates degree in Sciences with four (4) years progressive experience in the food industry. High School Diploma / GED and seven (7) years progressive experience in the food industry. •Excellent computer skills - Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools is required. •Experience in Auditing, Inspections and Quality Assurance. •Strong verbal and written communication skills. •Candidates must be well-organized. •Technical knowledge of food safety.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: •Must be able to work in a schedule-driven 12 hr shift environment with a customer service orientation to support plant operations. Overtime may be necessary as workloads dictate •Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and e-file background testing required •Food Safety and Good Manufacturing Practices, including appropriate safety equipment apply. Job will generally be performed in a manufacturing environment. •While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be required to sit for prolonged periods of time, climb stairs, climb ladders and walk plant floors that could exceed one mile of travel per day. •The employee must have a full range of body movements including use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, computer equipment and peripherals; and bending, reaching, and crouching. •Must have command of all five senses, sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. These vision requirements in each area must be sufficient to shift in focus from computer screens to close forms. •Strength: Must have the ability to lift 20 pounds with regularity. •Must be able to understand and follow work instructions in English.
