We are seeking a dynamic, creative individual experienced in food science with emphasis in food engineering to assist us with the implementation of innovative food science and food packaging programs.

Qualifications: Requirements are: an earned doctorate in food science from an accredited degree-granting institution with an emphasis in food engineering; university teaching experience in food science/food engineering and/or food packaging; research or grantsmanship experience. Effective communication skills required. Student mentoring and experience in building partnerships with industry preferred. Membership in a related national professional organization required with leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities: Effective teaching of undergraduate and graduate food science and food engineering courses.
Courses may include, but not be limited to: food engineering and processing, food quality, food packaging, food product development, and food technology. Conduct research in area of food engineering and/or food packaging. Additional responsibilities include thesis supervision, academic advisement, and professional service.

Department: The Department of Food and Nutrition is responsible for administering the undergraduate program in Food Systems and Technology as well as a graduate program in Food and Nutritional Sciences with concentrations in Food Science or Nutrition. Equipment housed in the department includes: Temperature & Humidity Chamber, Varian Saturn 2100T GCMS, ASE 200 Accelerated Solvent Extractor, a Single Screw Extruder, HPLC, protein analyzer, moisture analyzer, vacuum oven and texture analysis instrumentation. The department also administers an undergraduate program in Dietetics and a post master's degree dietetic internship.
