Job Description:
The successful candidate, working with a cross-functional
product development team, will be responsible for developing and
implementing new products from concept to commercialization; be active in
process and product improvements; and assist production with resolving manufacturing
nonconformity issues as they relate to formulation.
Essential Duties:
- Develop new products and
processes that support the business
- Develop documentation,
processing instructions, qualitative and quantitative testing procedures
for production to use in the manufacture of new products.
- Develop nutrition
information and ingredient statements for customer specifications
and retail packaging by using the Genesis software program
- Test new products for
flavor, texture, color, nutritional content, and adherence to
government and industry standards, avoiding allergens when possible.
- Assist with vetting
prospective vendors by verifying specifications and ingredients
- Through shelf life testing,
study the structure and composition of food products, and the
changes foods undergo in storage and processing to verify or
establish optimum shelf life for new and existing products.
- Confer with cross
functional teams in order to resolve problems in production.
- Assist in the development
of quality assurance programs for operations.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- BS in Food
Science required, MS in Food Science preferred.
- 0-3 years
experience in food product formulation
- Ability to communicate
effectively both verbally and in writing
- Proficient in Word and
Excel
- Self-motivated with a
positive attitude and a willingness to be flexible
- Capable of handling
multiple assignments simultaneously
