Position Responsibilities:

Position Summary:
Provide leadership to the Harahan, LA gourmet roasting facility for the development and management of the Division`s Strategic Quality Plan. This position operates within the quality philosophy and policies of the Sara Lee Company and serves as the chief quality representation for the Division Director of Quality. The QC Manager advises, influences and provides the quality assurance prospective to management and is responsible for the direct management of the facility QC department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
* Manage compliance with all regulatory and company defined food safety and sanitation standards, systems, procedures, and practices to guarantee absolute wholesomeness of our products; Examples of these systems include co-packer qualification and certification, inbound quality inspections, quantitative and sensorial testing, lot tracking, sanitation, pest control, and food safety and quality systems training.
* Oversee the quality assurance and quality control functions to ensure highly disciplined compliance with all product and process quality parameters and standards including formulations, specifications, approved methods, procedures, practices and systems.
* Facilitate and organize customer complaint response, resolution, and tracking.
* Champion product sensorial evaluation teams.
* Foster continuous improvement methodologies to reduce costs and increase efficiencies.
* Develop and maintain precise record keeping procedures to ensuring SUPERIOR ratings from AIB, ASI, Silliker and QAI-Organic third party inspections; Lead Kosher certification program.
* Act as in-house expert for customer-specific flavor creations and reformulations.


* Bachelor`s degree in Food Safety, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, or other science related field
* HACCP Certification from a nationally / internationally recognized and accredited HACCP training firm
* 6+ years of progressive food processing experience, with at least 4 years in a management capacity within a manufacturing environment under HACCP, USDA and/or FDA regulations
* Knowledge of Sensory Evaluation, Statistical Process Control, Quality Systems Implementation, Process Capability (Cp, Cpk, and Ppk), and related statistical analysis
* Lean Manufacturing knowledge/experience to apply lean concepts to fully engage in a Continuous Improvement culture
* Comprehensive experience with FDA and/or USDA Rules and Regulations
* Previous experience with Safe Quality Foods or SQF Expert Practitioner is a plus
* Demonstrate leadership in the areas of food safety, plant regulatory, R&D and Quality Assurance
* Knowledge of line equipment and operations
* Strong computer skills with experience using Word and Excel.
* Able to work with cross functional departments within the organization
* Good problem solving and corrective action/resolution skills
* Demonstrated ability to train and motivate others
