Quality Assurance Food Safety Manager

Job Duties:
• Support Food Safety across all Saputo US facilities by working with Corporate Quality, Plant Quality, Operations, Sales, customers and suppliers.
• Responsible for enhancing and overseeing the Vendor Program (to include, but not limited to, audits, vendor approval, product quality, specifications, documentation, data management, etc.).
• Directly manage, support and develop the QA Vendor Manager and support the management and development of the Vendor Analysts.
• Develop and update food safety policy. Work closely with Regional QA Managers and Regional FS and QA Manager to implement and standardize these policies.
• Support and provide direction to the organization for food safety programs such as product and environmental pathogen prevention monitoring, training and HACCP.
• Provide support in assessment of significant Food Safety situations and make sound recommendations regarding disposition of product and future preventative measures.
• Provide support for Food Safety recall efforts for the US Division.
• Lead cross functional Food Safety teams and efforts.
• Follow regulatory changes and develop or modify policies as needed to insure compliance.
• Act as food safety liaison to the food industry.
• Manage third party lab approval process, relationships and performance.
• Support specified customer and supplier initiatives in conjunction with Quality, Sales, Operations and other functions as appropriate.
• Perform miscellaneous duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Food Microbiology, Food Science or related field. Equivalent experience will be considered.
• Seven (7)+ years of experience in food safety in a dairy manufacturing environment; including strong understanding of microbiology and food science.
• Working knowledge of regulatory requirements (i.e. FDA, USDA, etc.).
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AS400, etc.
• Strong understanding of plant QA systems (i.e. HACCP, Environmental Pathogen Monitoring, Pest Control, etc.)
• Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and provide solutions.
• Ability to influence and drive positive change.
• Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently with good time management.
• Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with all levels of employees as well as internal and external customers.
• Must possess strong leadership, communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to travel frequently with overnight stays.
