Food QA Manager – Chicago,
The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning,
implementation and maintenance of the company's food safety and quality
systems to provide excellent quality, reduce risk
and foster customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, implement and manage the company's written operating
procedures in compliance with all regulatory guidelines and requirements
and following the consolidated standards published by USDA and AIB and
those found within the SQF 2000 code.
Manage the development of the company's quality standards
(SQF) as well as documentation requirements by establishing timetables and
action plans. Follow-up on
non-conforming situations and provide technical assistance for compliance.
Respond to customer documentation requests, including quality
surveys, specification reviews, kosher documentation, regulatory request
and data collection.
Oversee regulatory interdepartmental meetings (Food Safety
Committee) and compile reports to ensure consistency of written quality
procedures and materials.
Provide training to all employees on a scheduled basis on food
safety and quality issues that pertain to their job descriptions and
responsibilities. This includes
GMP's, allergen control, sanitation and all other topics as covered in the
prerequisites program of the food safety manual.
Oversee various company projects related to quality and safety
Participate in and provide effective recommendations relative
to employee performance, training and development, hiring, promotions, transfers,
Facilitate all in-house regulatory inspections and oversee all
customer and third-party audits.
Review, maintain and implement personnel safety programs in
accordance with OSHA standards.
Provide training to personnel for job specific safety concerns. Lead plant safety committee and ensure
Emergency Responders are trained and adequate coverage is provided on all
Responsible for supervising the QA and QC supervisors and
reviewing floor documentation on a monthly basis to ensure all programs and
policies are in force and being followed.
BS in Food Science or related area
10+ years QA/QC experience in a food manufacturing plant
including experience with HACCP, CCP's, OSHA, allergen control and GMP's
USDA experience is a MUST. AIB is a big plus
Strong written and oral communication skills
