PurFoods is a USDA-approved and inspected food preparation and delivery business dedicated to providing great tasting, nutritionally sound, meals to our customers. We prepare, package and ship ready to eat meals to a customerís doorstep throughout the continental United States.

PurFoods has grown significantly and has an opportunity in its Food Safety and Quality Assurance department for a Director of Food Safety and Quality Assurance.  This position will have be part of the senior management team. 


SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the Foods Safety, Quality Assurance and Sanitation functions for all company facilities.  The position is responsible for driving continuous adherence and improvement of the companyís HACCP and GMP programs.  This role ensures that incoming materials and products produced are safe, wholesome and of good quality by establishing and maintaining food safety and quality auditing procedures and programs. This position provides leadership and technical support/expertise to manufacturing in conducting audits and to product development, product innovation and retail operations. This position advises management on issues related to food safety, crisis prevention and management and regulatory compliance.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Lead HACCP and food safety team. Drive food audits, coordinate and participate in trials for raw materials, packaging and new products. Analyze and report trends in raw, package, finished product and consumer data. Assist production in controlling quality with appropriate test procedures and frequencies on the line and auditing of finished products. Direct and coordinate sanitation actions. Lead and deploy quality and food safety training and education programs.

Essential Duties:

 Lead integration of the current quality assurance and food safety processes into one integrated process. This includes HACCP, regulatory audits, quality systems review process, standard operating procedures (SPO), incoming ingredient inspections, food safety audits, field complaints, standardized work instructions.

  • Develop and execute SQF (Safe Quality Food) plan.
  • Manage finished product evaluations and provide leadership to drive improvements in key customer quality attributes.
  • Oversee training and maintenance of all training records for critical food safety and quality requirements. Document and maintain training registry for all employees.
  • Oversee monitoring, verification and validation activities to ensure that all products leaving the facilities meet quality standards.
  • Provide guidance and leadership in situations where deviations have occurred or a potential risk has been identified related to food safety and/or quality attributes.
  • Establish and manage the cleaning activities of all sanitarians, ensuring all manufacturing processes meet food safety requirements in a timely manner.
  • Represent the Company in all customer, agency and supplier forums.

Requirements  Education: 

  •  Bachelorís degree in Food Science, Food Safety, Microbiology or comparable field.
  • Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point Certification (HACCP)

  

Experience:

  • 5-10 years of progressive food processing, food safety, and quality assurance experience with at least four (4) years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Working knowledge and experience with HACCP, USDA, FSIS requirements.
  • Intermediate to Excellent knowledge of Office Suite programs, emphasis on Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

  

Job Requirements:

Physical, mental and environmental requirements:
