Heinz is searching for a QA Supervisor to join our Holland, Michigan team. 

 

The Quality Assurance Supervisor is a key element and an essential position for the factory and the Corporation.  The Quality Assurance Supervisor helps the facilitation, implementation and maintenance of all Factory and Corporate Quality, Food Safety, Safety and USDA/FSIS & FDA Regulatory programs and initiatives.  This position is to monitor, test and report on an on-going basis the microbiological activity of the manufacturing environment, raw materials, finished goods, equipment, etc.  Investigates and partners with other functions to determine contamination sources and takes corrective actions to eliminate sources.

 

Participate in the QRMP yearly audit and assist in the development of procedures and corrective actions.

-Assist with the implementation of the QRMP (Quality Risk Management Process) system and operational

standards as outlined in the plant accountability list in order to achieve targeted RCR.

-Assist with communicating the factory Quality Management System expectations to all personnel and defined

stakeholders, and provide training accordingly.

-Provide technical support to Operations, Maintenance, Sanitation, Logistics, Procurement, and Sales / Marketing.

-Assist with the factory Pre-Requisite Programs (PRPs), Operational Pre-Requisite Programs (OPRPs), and Critical

Control Points (CCPs), as defined in the Food Safety Program.

-Assist with facilitating and driving compliance to the Quality Risk Management Process (Q-RMP) via crossfunctional

work teams and leadership accountability.

-Verify and validate manufacturing processes comply with regulatory requirements.

-Assist with retaining and maintaining documentation and records associated with HNA and factory Quality

Management Systems, Quality Risk Management Process, and Food Safety Systems Certification (FSSC 22000).

-Assist with training personnel in techniques and procedures for the Food Safety Program, Quality Assurance

activities, Quality Control activities, Raw Materials and Finished Goods Inspections, and Sensory Taste Panels.

-Assist with the administration, execution and maintenance of the internal audit program.

-Review all Process Sheets and Specifications for acceptance or variance to capability.

-Serve as the factory primary contact for all customer’s and third party audits, including management, preparation,

and corrective actions.

-Represent the factory in the New Product Development Process (NPD) to ensure factory capability for new

products and line extensions.

-Champion quality improvement initiatives and waste reduction projects to center line processes and reduce

variation.

-Manage and report on key issues, trends, customer / consumer complaints, and incident investigations to local and

HQ Quality and Food Safety management.

-Communicate and report on key quality performance metrics as defined by HNA Quality and local management.

-Assure that all non-conforming products are managed (including identification, segregation and timely final

disposition) in accordance with current applicable policies.

-Interface with contractors (pest control, cleaning chemicals, engineering, etc.) and raw material suppliers to ensure

compliance with quality and food safety requirements.

-Assist and partner with business leaders on implementation of process improvement (Six Sigma / Lean/Heinz

Global Production System (HGPS)), including leading change initiatives, planning, and facilitation.

-Assist with the supervision of Quality Assurance staff including but not limited to performance management and

employee development, etc.

-Other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

REQUIREMENTS -B.Sc. in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Food Business or other related science based discipline. -Excellent communication skills in verbal, written, and presentation communications. -Demonstrate continuous learning in competencies related to Quality Assurance and Food Safety. -Certified Quality Auditor or Certified Quality Manager by ASQ preferred.

KNOWLEDGE -Must demonstrate moderate to strong knowledge of the following core competencies: -Quality Management Systems -Food Safety Risk Management -HACCP -Sanitation and Environmental Monitoring -Training -Internal Auditing -Statistical Process Control and Data Analysis -Technical problem solving (root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action development) -Must demonstrate basic to moderate knowledge of the following: -Managing raw material suppliers and incoming materials -Allergen Management -Food regulations -Customer centricity -he applicable processing method at the factory; e.g.: LACF, Acidified, High Acid, Frozen/ Chilled, Aseptic, and/or Pasteurization -GFSI audit scheme implementation -Incident Investigation and Reporting -Must demonstrate basic knowledge of the following: -Scientific techniques for investigating complaints -Microbiological and Analytical Methods -Commissioning, Qualification, and Verification of new products / processes

SKILLS -Inductive reasoning: The ability to combine pieces of information to form conclusions (includes a relationship among seemingly unrelated events). -Pro-Active Problem Solving Approach: The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. -Deductive reasoning: The Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers. -Multi-Task: Should be able to balance multiple projects at one time and prioritize to meet deadlines. -Ability to train salaried and hourly employees. -Grow and develop salaried personnel for Promotability. -Ability to Lead Teams and Team activities to achieve business results. -Advanced computer and presentation skills: Must be able to make oral and visual presentations to small and large groups that effectively communicate to the intended audience.

EXPERIENCE -Minimum of 1 year experience in Quality Assurance, Food Manufacturing, or other technical environment. -Demonstrate ability to work with cross-functional groups. -Demonstrate ability to supervise and train others effectively.
