Defines, develops and commercializes new, improved
processing technologies to support new product introductions, reduce cost
and/or improve quality. Serves as processing expert and resource across
ConAgra. Develops, directs, or acquires innovative process technology
(preferably ownable) to deliver competitive advantages through new
products, quality/shelf life improvement, yield improvement, and/or cost
reduction. Requires advanced Engineering degree and 8 years experience.
Identify and
develop food safety initiatives.
Responsible
for establishing the adequacy of unit operations to provide control for
assuring safe food.
Define and
support food safety requirements for new Product, Packaging, and Process
Development initiatives.
Serve as a
subject matter expert in shelf stable technologies with emphasis in
hot-fill-hold, retorted and aseptic processing technologies.
Disseminate
expertise across ConAgra`s R&D and manufacturing communities.
Assist
Operations, Food Safety, Quality and Engineering in areas that extend
beyond their own internal capabilities on process changes to improve food
safety and quality.
Lead annual
thermal processing, food packaging and food engineering audits on ConAgra`s
processing systems.
Assist with
plant trials and startups (validations) as needed.
Financial
understanding to optimize profitability.
Sound people
management skills, focusing on relevant process development execution and
capability to delegate authority to maximize work force output
Understand
food processing and food science with exposure to research and commercial
applications. Stay current on new process technologies partnering with
Universities, suppliers.
Qualifications:
BS or BA
degree in Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Food Science and
Technology, or Food Microbiology required.
Minimum of
7-10 years experience in food process technology or related.
Thorough
understanding of process-food product interactions and challenges faced
during commercialization.
Advanced
working knowledge of experimental design and execution
Extensive
knowledge of process engineering and processing equipment
Excellent
presentation skills, both oral and written.
Proficient
at Microsoft office programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Experience
in compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies and regulatory
requirements pertaining to food processing and packaging.
Understanding of the theory and practice of food preservation
processes
Strong
people management skills, focusing on relevant process development
execution and capability to delegate authority to maximize work force
output
Thorough
understanding of sanitary design, and equipment cleaning.
Proven
troubleshooting skill with demonstrated ability to "think on their
feet."
Network and
leverage capability across industry and academia here and internationally.
Ability to
work cross functionally to garner support and enthusiasm.
Budgeting,
financial analysis skills to define and analyze cost impacts.
