This position primarily develops seasoning blends and flavors for products across the ConAgra portfolio and provides applications support to test and evaluate these ingredients. The incumbent works directly with Research, Quality & Innovation to provide flavor and applications expertise, assist in product development efforts and provide cost effective flavor systems with the highest possible quality and consumer acceptance. This position is responsible for initial development of the ingredient through to commercialization. It is also responsible for driving innovation around flavors for ConAgra.

Formulates seasoning blends and flavors to match the ingredient statement, nutritional profile, specifications, and sensory attributes of existing target products.

Conceptualizes and develops new product prototypes that effectively demonstrate opportunities for our seasoning blends and flavors.

Ensures SFS teams respond to ConAgra PD requests so as to deliver optimal products and service.

Responsible for scale up of new flavors and ingredients including process, specifications, plant trials, shelf testing, product start-up, and troubleshooting.

Identifies new project opportunities that will meet ConAgra needs for innovation, cost reduction, and/or product improvement.

Searches for and evaluates new ingredients and technologies for effective development particularly in the area of low fat systems.

Identifies areas of cost optimization through better raw material procurement, ingredient substitutions, or processing efficiencies.

Establishes effective relationships with outside suppliers that help drive innovation and benefit ConAgra.

Enters recipes into SAP / Recipe Management.

BS in Food Science or a related field required.

A minimum of 5 years focused experience in development and application of seasoning blends and flavors for food industry, consumer foods product development or ingredient technology.

Experience in commercialization of flavors, ingredients, and branded food or beverage products.

Experience in development of low fat products or systems.

Ability to adapt to current formula maintenance systems: SAP and Product Vision.

Ability to work with and assist customers on bench top, pilot plant, and plant trials.

Ability to bring forward innovative and creative ideas to our customers.

Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work independently.

Excellent organization, time management, and project management skills.

Ability to work well with others and as part of a team.

Strong communication skills.

Ability to travel independently up to 25% of time and as a responsible ConAgra Foods representative.
