Business Risk
Our Advisory practice solves our clients' most
complex financial instrument and physical market challenges by delivering
risk advisory, technical accounting, quantitative, technology and operational
services. Specifically, our consulting projects include risk
assessment and solution implementation for business strategies and
policies, business processes, organization structure, risk modeling,
management reporting and treasury, trading and risk systems. We help
clients draw the necessary information from the capital markets, their
customers, regulators and other sources, analyze the information across
risk classes, and report the information to managers in an efficient but
secure format to facilitate tactical and strategic decision
making. Our professionals bring extensive experience in risk
management, trading, treasury, investment management, operations,
accounting, taxation, asset securitization, and management consulting to
each assignment.
The Business Risk ("BR") service area is
comprised of professionals that possess competency and experience in the
areas of risk management, business and operational processes, internal
auditing, financial reporting and other internal controls, and regulatory
compliance. Business risk professionals use these skills to assess,
analyze, and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of governance,
financial and operational control processes, offer recommendations to
improve operations, and assist clients with enterprise risk and compliance
activities.
Finance Operations & Controls Transformation
(FO&CT)
Helps clients improve the effectiveness and
efficiency of finance and finance related operations, primarily where
linkages to the financial statements and internal controls are significant.
Assists clients with managing technology and business risks associated with
external contractual arrangements, internal control reporting, and capital
markets systems.

What is the Food and Product Safety Service?
Food and Product Safety (FPS) is a cross functional
offering composed of all four Deloitte functions (Audit & Enterprise
Risk Services, Financial Advisory Services, Consulting, Tax) that addresses
many of our clients' key safety issues by assisting them:
Assess risks
Build quality, risk
and compliance processes
Develop overall
programs
Enhance their secure
supply chains
Identify tax
incentives
Develop integrated
regulatory compliance approaches; and
Enhance overall issue
management and related communications.
Our holistic, team approach enables engagement teams
to deploy solutions to efficiently address our clients' challenges across
the enterprise. Additionally, FPS is closely aligned with Deloitte's
Federal Practice and maintains relationships with the USDA, EPA, FDA, DOT,
CPSC and others to stay abreast of pending legislation and other regulatory
changes.

Responsibilities
·
Conduct inspections of manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, and
retailers who produce, assemble, distribute and sell consumer products.
·
Travel to on-site locations such as production plants, company offices,
distribution facilities, etc.
·
Examine production methods, product specifications, manufacturer's testing
and quality control procedures, product certification and labeling.
·
Identify & evaluate products for potential, substantial, and imminent
hazards and determine compliance with the organization's regulations, laws,
and product standards.
·
Conduct investigations by interviewing consumers, fire and police officials,
as well as other knowledgeable officials and witnesses on product related
injuries and deaths.
Specialized Qualifications and Experience
- BA/BBA/BS
degree required
- Broad
knowledge of the United States regulatory environment and requirements
(2008 Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act, CPSC standards, CFRs,
etc.)
- Risk and
Compliance, risk management, plant safety and/or quality assurance
experience within a consumer products company
- Broad
knowledge of industry standards (ATSME, ISO 8XXX, ANSI, etc.)
- Experience
conducting routine investigations, writing reports based on findings,
conducting oral presentations and analyzing written reports
- Knowledge
of manufacturing and marketing practices of consumer products,
knowledge of broad product safety principles and regulations relevant
to the investigation of possible violative
products and ability to explain issues orally and in writing
- Strong
written and verbal communication skills
- Ability
to balance multiple tasks and responsibilities
- Willingness
to travel
- Six
Sigma is a plus
