Food Technologist for Research and Development Kitchen

 

Our client, located in the South Western suburbs, a leader in Food Manufacturing in the U.S., is seeking a Food Technologist for their Research and Development Kitchen.

 

SUMMARY

 

This position is responsible for the documentation and organization of all specifications for new products and the integration of specifications into production in conjunction with the Project Coordinator while working and interacting with Kitchen manager in the test kitchen. Reports to Corporate Executive Chef

 

 

 SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

ˇ         Adherence and development of New Product Development Guidelines

ˇ         Development of new product data for customer specifications

ˇ         Organize customer electronic and paper files for retrieval

ˇ         Interact with Project coordinator at production levels

ˇ         Interact with Executive Chef and Kitchen Manager at test kitchen

ˇ         Retrieve vendor specification information

ˇ         Participate/Review new product start-ups

ˇ         Participate in test kitchen functions ie shipping of samples, presentations

ˇ         Maintaining company confidential information

 

 

 QUALIFICATIONS

 

ˇ         Office and lab experience in food manufacturing as a product developer or food technologist.

ˇ         Highly refined organizational skills

ˇ         Proficient computer skills (word, excel, power point and internet usage)

ˇ         Food science and nutrition development knowledge

ˇ         Positive attitude and work environment presence

 

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

 

ˇ         Building customer/product specification profiles for new and existing business

ˇ         Organizing and Maintaining files for R&D department

ˇ         Integrating new product specifications into production in conjunction with Project Coordinator

ˇ         Interfacing with Executive Chef and Kitchen Manager for smooth development of new products for new and existing customers

ˇ         Maintaining a high level of confidentiality

Requirements  EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

 

ˇ         BS in food science

ˇ         2 years office or lab experience in food development industry

ˇ         Minor Culinary Training/Experience

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

ˇ         Lifting up to 50 pounds

ˇ         Standing 30 percent of the time

ˇ         Working in cold environments

ˇ         Working with hot equipment

ˇ         Computer work at desk

ˇ         Delivering samples
