Analytical Chemist/ Food Chemist/ Chemistry/ Food Science

 

Growing Company is seeking a motivated, positive, and bright analytical chemist who wants to work in challenging and exciting atmosphere. This position is full time and located in St. Louis, MO.

 

Summary: This person will be responsible  for the set up and running of the food chemistry lab in addition they will also  prepare and analyze food samples. In addition this person will interact with clients and analysts in our Chemistry, Materials, Industrial Hygiene, and Microbiology departments.  

 

Responsibilities will include: Food sample preparation, analysis, data reporting and QC and possible method development.

Requirements

Requirements:  

  • Bachelors Degree in Food Science, Food Chemistry, and/or   Chemistry
  • Minimum 2 to 5 years of food chemistry experience in a commercial lab in food preparation and analysis is required 
  • Must have good communication skills and computer skills
  • Knowledge of Laboratory LIMS systems a must. 
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment and multi-task in a multidiscipline
  • Minimum required analysis knowledge / experience: Protein, Moisture, Ash, Calories, Fat Profile, Sugar Profile, Total Dietary Fiber, Sodium, Calcium, Cholesterol, Vitamin and Mineral Analysis, Fatty Acid Analysis, Antioxidant via ORAC analysis.
  • Instrumental setting (ICP, IC, GC, GC/MS, HPLC, ICP/MS, ELISA, and UV/VIS) is a must. 
  • Experience in choosing appropriate preparation techniques and analytical methods a must.
  • Familiarity with AOAC based methods and appropriate method modification a must
  • Technical writing experience a plus
  • Experience with SPE and most extraction techniques a plus.  Experience with difficult food matrices is a plus.
  • Experience with shelf life and rancidity / food spoilage methods a plus
  • Must be able to work with a team and independently
