R&D Food Technologist –
Marin County, CA
The R&D Food
Technologist is responsible for the development of new products and
adaptation of new and existing formulas to meet customer specification
that support existing business and create new business opportunities for
our client
·
In
collaboration with the R&D Manager develop products from conception
to production that meet customer specifications
·
Responsible
for completion of assigned research and development projects in a timely
manner
·
Responsibilities
include formulation batch sheets, bench top cook up, flavor and color
application
·
Oversee
trials and launches, adapting formulas and processes as required
·
Enter
production formulas and process procedures into Microsoft excel; complete
required documentation
·
In
collaboration with the R&D Manager establish product specifications
on new products and update as needed
·
Provide
technical support to sales, QA/QC and production department as required
·
Provide
product information and technical support to customers as required
·
Gain
and share technical knowledge keeping informed of new technologies,
ingredients, products and processes as required
·
Responsible
for the analysis of new ingredients / flavors and complete documentation
including specifications on new raw materials
·
Participate
and promote continuous improvement activities
·
Effectively
communicate with R&D manager on projects
·
Effectively
communicate with related departments on products as required
·
Train
R&D Technicians, QA, QC, production personnel on products and
processes as needed
·
Conduct
sensory evaluation on ingredients and products
·
Conduct
product shelf life studies
·
Wear
PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when required.
·
Responsible
for ensuring work area is clean and organized.
·
Commitment
to quality
·
Responsible
for all other duties as assigned by R&D Manager.
Required skills:
Education/Experience:Minimum Bachelors of Science in Food
Science or related preferred with entry level to 5 years
experience in product development, quality assurance or
operations. Broad knowledge of food science, food safety and food
chemistry.
Skills: Formulation skills,
organoleptic abilities, must have a working knowledge of MS Word and MS
PowerPoint software, and be proficient with MS Excel software.

Qualifications:

Masters
of Science in Food Science

Language: Bi-Lingual Spanish
a plus.
