Job Description :
The primary responsibility of this role is to act as the
onsite food safety and regulatory authority at the facility. The
position has the primary responsibility for driving the food safety
processes, procedures, and systems within the plantís operational framework
by developing, implementing, modifying and maintaining the plantís HACCP,
SSOP, and regulatory programs to ensure compliance with all
regulatory requirements for the production of safe and wholesome foods.
maintain and train personnel on validated and science based HACCP [Hazard
Analysis and Critical Control Points] plans for each operational
procedure within the facility to include GMP [Good Manufacturing
Practices] and sanitation standards.
regulatory responsibility to ensure compliance with all FSIS [Food Safety
and Inspection Services] regulations, directives and policies. This
includes interfacing with USDA staff, resolve and respond to all USDA
non-compliant records and ensure that corrective and preventative actions
and measures are put in place.
and maintain plant operational training programs to instruct employees to
how to use and abide by HACCP, SSOP, and other required food safety
Job Requirements :
BS Degree in appropriate discipline such as Food Science and
2-3 years of relevant experience in the meat industry.
Competencies include: interpersonal, decision making,
organizational, conflict resolution, communication skills [oral and
written], knowledge of USDA regulations pertaining to a slaughter facility
as well as animal welfare knowledge and experience and SQF [Safe Quality
Food] program requirements.
HACCP certification will be required.
Position requires individual to be on his/her feet constantly, walking
in the plant and on the plant grounds.
