Description

Carl Karcher Enterprises, LLC is actively seeking a Associate Food Technologist in Carpinteria, CA. The Associate Food Technologist supports the execution of technical projects to develop, optimize and maintain new or existing products, processes and/or packaging.

May perform any or all of the following duties:

·         Tests and evaluates new food and non-food products to be introduced into restaurant system

·         Partners with management to establish appropriate technical plans to meet project objectives

·         Contributes to the development of technical plans including project objectives, experimental designs, decision rules, background information, critical issues, approach, timing, necessary resources, and estimated costs

·         Develops information for product specifications, ingredient specifications and testing procedures

·         Plans and/or executes sensory panel research and coordinates consumer research efforts

·         Coordinates supplier activity in the performance of development activities including product formulations, processing procedures and related information

·         Partners with Quality Control, Marketing, Operations, vendors and/or suppliers to develop, make changes and/or improvements to new product programs

·         Maintains accurate and current database

·         Supports Guest Relations in responding to consumer questions regarding nutritional information and allergens

·         Communicates concise and accurate reports in written and/or oral form to appropriate management and project team members

·         Identifies and communicates results and/or critical issues that influence project direction

·         Participates in special projects as assigned by management

·         Maintains thorough and accurate documentation of project work

·         Other duties as assigned or requested

Requirements

Critical skills and abilities for success include:

·         Approximately two (2) years of experience that demonstrates a commanding knowledge in food product research and development or related field

·         BS in Food Science, Food Technology or similar field

·         Knowledge of product evaluation and food handling procedures

·         Knowledge of Genesis software required

·         Must have a understanding of nutritional and allergen labeling requirements

·         Restaurant experience preferred

·         Must have excellent planning, prioritizing, organizational and problem solving skills

·         Strong work ethic: commitment to seeing duties completed at a high standard of quality

·         The ability to effectively plan and deliver oral and written communications

·         Proficient technical skills and analytical abilities

·         Demonstrates the ability to successfully execute clear and concise projects and reports
