This position will report into the President and CEO
and will be responsible for the Quality Function of the Active Nutrition
division (PowerBar, Dymatize,
Premier Protein, Joint Juice). The VP of Quality
& Food Safety will provide strategic vision and leadership to the
division while taking a proactive focused approach to the navigation of all
compliance regulations within the division both domestically and
internationally. This position will lead the interaction for the quality
function for both regulatory bodies and our customers.
Responsible for the development,
implementation, and continuous improvement of the Food Safety and Quality
Systems designed to meet all applicable customer, federal, state, local,
and international regulatory requirements.
Responsible for the development and
management of quality systems that insure consistency of quality on key
consumer hedonic metrics.
Responsible for the quality systems across
co-manufacturing locations. Will establish and execute the necessary
processes needed to audit the co-manufacturers and assure that all food
safety and quality systems comply with regulatory requirements and division
Responsible for ensuring the supplier network
adheres to all raw material and ingredients specifications. Will establish
and execute the necessary processes needed to audit the suppliers and
assure that all food safety and quality systems comply with regulatory
requirements and division expectations.
Coaches and mentors the Quality organization
ensuring expectations, accountability, and decision making authority is
clearly communicated and understood.
Assures appropriate training programs are
established and conducted in all areas of Food Safety and Quality.
Develops sanitary design proposals for
capital improvements to ensure future equipment and infrastructure is
developed to maintain strict adherence to food safety.
Provides technical responses to customers,
consumers, and regulatory agencies.
Establishes clear quality and foods safety
goals and metrics designed to support the overall business objectives.
Leads all food safety and quality crisis
Leads the establishment of a culture of
Quality within the division.
Supports manufacturing plants during
regulatory and 3rd party audits. Works with Operations to assure
appropriate corrective actions are developed and implemented to address any
Assures annual internal Food Safety and
Quality audits are conducted at each facility. Work with Operations to
assure appropriate corrective actions are developed and implemented to
address any non-conforming results.
Utilize quality data such as consumer
feedback, finished product data, and process data, to guide the organization
in making necessary product and/or process improvements.
Keep abreast of industry trends and
regulatory action, and utilize knowledge to drive improvement to our
Develops and manages the Quality department
Bachelor of Science required with a Masters
preferred in Food Science, Microbiological, Quality, or related field.
Minimum of 12-15 years of progressive
experience in Food Quality, Quality Operations or R&D.
Must have a minimum of 10 years experience
in the area of Food Safety or Quality
Extensive quality and regulatory experience
in dietary supplements, infant formula, and food industry preferred.
Extensive experience in USP, cGMP, HACCP,
Allergen Control, and other food safety and quality system requirements.
Possess strong interpersonal skills along
with supporting verbal and written communications skills.
Must have strong influence management skills.
Balance of strategic thinking and strong
analytical skills with ability to execute.
Previous experience with oversight of Food
Safety programs in multiple locations.
Direct experience with NSF and GFSI
Efficient computer skills.
20-40% Travel required.
