Job Description

General Description:

To assist the Food Safety Manager in leading the food safety department of 40 employees and managing all food safety activities within the plant.

Job Requirements & Accountability:

•A working knowledge of a wholesale food processing plant.

•Minimum of 3 years experience in managing food safety in a food processing environment.

•To assist in directing and coordinating all food safety activities within the plant including: pest control, microbiological testing, maintaining and enhancing food safety standards, GMP’s, SSOP’s and HACCP. This includes evaluating, developing & conducting extensive training for plant employees in each of these key areas to develop a culture of food safety.

•To assist in directing and coordinating all HACCP related programs, policies and procedures including monthly plant audits, monthly meetings and documentation of results.

•To assist in coordinating and supervising preparation for and execution of all food safety audits w/AIB, RIDOH and FDA and insuring compliance w/all regulations.

•Furnishing leadership to plant sanitarians, providing training, and development to optimize their performance, and evaluate opportunities for continuous improvement in overall sanitation practices.

•Supply technical leadership to assure that the manufacturing processes and environments are safe for the production of food products by standardizing, implementing, and auditing effectiveness of food safety management systems.

•Planning, managing and directing plant sanitation procedures and programs. Ensures compliance with operating procedures and regulatory requirements.

•Monitoring the pest and insect control program, evaluating its effectiveness and implementing changes and/or improvements as required.
