CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Processing and Food Ingredients division. We are looking for a Quality Assurance and Food Safety Manager to join our growing team. You will manage, develop and administer the Food Safety policies, GMP and HACCP programs for the facility, to ensure regulatory and industry compliance. You must be detail oriented with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, have the ability to multi-task, problem solve, and work effectively in a broad range of environments.

You will:

  • Develop, administer and maintain applicable Food Safety Policies and related Standard Operating Procedures for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Safe Quality Food (SQF) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP).
  • Conduct quarterly Food Safety and Customer meetings.
  • Identify and implement appropriate QA testing policies and procedures.
  • Conduct monthly GMP, HACCP and Global Food Safety Initiatives (GFSI) internal audits, procedures, paperwork and inspections.
  • Plan, lead and coordinate quality-related activities, including the product quality metrics analysis and lead investigations relating to food safety and quality issues.
  • Have decision-making authority regarding exceptional products and food safety.
  • Lead and manage the development of food safety programs. Track the effectiveness of these programs including standards, training, and quality documentation, and strive for continuous improvements.
  • Coordinate with others within the department, division, and enterprise to ensure initiatives meet quality, regulatory and food safety standards.
  • Monitor and update of quality documents, procedures, work instructions, forms, raw material specifications, packaging, in-process products and finished products.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards, correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions in the workplace
  • Effectively hire, train, manage, motivate and develop team
  • Keep current on knowledge of all food and feed safety regulations and laws within the assigned region.
  • Participate in Industry associations as it relates to food and feed safety rules and regulations.
  • Travel as needed.


Basic Qualifications: (required)

  • Bachelor degree in Food Science or Food Engineering, Microbiology or Chemistry
  • 8 plus years’ experience in Food Quality Assurance to include:
  • Experience with food or food ingredient production
  • 4 years of experience with external food safety audits such as (HACCP, GFSI, GMP)
  • Knowledge of Global Food Safety Initiatives (GFSI) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP).
  • 2 plus years management or supervisory experience
  • HACCP Certification


Preferred Qualifications: (desired)

  • Masters degree in Food Technology
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations: OSHA, EPA, EEO/AA
