Job Description :

Primary responsibilities include insuring that operations are conducted in compliance with regulatory and internal food safety programs for all further processing operations including: Smithfield Kinston II, Smithfield Portsmouth Facility, Smithfield Landover Facility, Smithfield Grayson Facility, and Smithfield Middlesboro Facility. Leadership responsibilities include directing the Food Safety Managers to meet company, and divisional food safety and regulatory goals. Other duties included serving as the primary technical resource regarding shelf life, sanitation, process validations, and other technical or regulatory issues as needed. Other duties include serving as liaison with regulatory agencies, trade organizations, academia, and representing Smithfield on key industry committees, public meetings and other events pertaining to food safety and regulatory issues as required.

Job Requirements :

Graduate degree in Animal Science or related field preferred.  Supervisory experience required.
The ideal candidate must have strong interpersonal, organizational, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.  Technical knowledge of USDA regulations and animal welfare is a plus.
