SCOPE OF POSITION: Accountable to provide quality assurance management for Duncan Hines brand co-manufactures Gilster Mary-Lee and Roskam Baking Company. Ensures that Co-manufacturers follow Pinnacle Foods Group (PFG) quality systems and food safety policies. Provides front line leadership on food safety and quality to strategic co-manufacturing partners and collaborates with PFG associates to implement innovation and business continuous improvement initiative. Travel may exceed 40%.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Implementation of Pinnacle Foods Duncan Hines food safety and quality policies including quality assurance plans within the co-manufacturer’s control system including; food safety preventative measures, traceability, allergen controls, corrective action plans, consumer response investigations, complaint rate reduction, specifications (resources / formula) approval, variance controls, PFG co-manufacturer document control, statistic process controls, co-manufacturer audit response including documenting and communicating audit results, tracking and corrective actions and corrective actions closure including verification. Is responsible to collaborate with PFG product development on all plant trials and resource variance authorizations. Assists in maintaining approved supplier registers. Collaborates with other team and other associates in determining and meeting priorities for Supplier and Co-packer approval. Provide training, education and support as requested for food safety, quality assurance and regulatory compliance to suppliers and Co-packers to meet Pinnacle Foods Supplier and Co-packer policy manual requirements.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervisory responsibility extends to co-manufacturer management team
QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in managing food manufacturing quality and food safety programs, project management, familiar with third party inspection/audit models. Formal auditor training or certification is desired, HACCP trained, food allergen controls, traceability controls, SPC and SQF Practitioner certification are desired.
EDUCATION: BS in Food Science, Microbiology or related degrees.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five years food industry quality control or quality assurance
SKILLS/PROFICIENCIES: Oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills with high emphasis on flexibility. Proficient with business office software, and be self-directed.
