KIDAPAWAN
CITY—A dozen guests, including seven children, were rushed to a nearby
hospital allegedly due to food poisoning after having attended a wedding
banquet in Aleosan, North Cotabato on Sunday. Aleosan Mayor
Loreto Cabaya has ordered for an investigation on the reported poisoning to
determine its real cause after a physician at the Aleosan District Hospital
initially blamed it on amoeba, a water-borne disease. Cabaya said
some of the victims' testimonies proved otherwise when they suspected the
pork and beef they had eaten at the wedding to be the cause. Wedding
sponsor Jean Tambalo, 47, who came all the way from Tulunan town in North
Cotabato, said after eating the various meat dishes, she and three family
members complained of severe headache and abdominal pain. She said
other patients confided to have experienced dizziness, cold extremities, weak
legs, vomiting and lose bowel movement. Cabaya also
doubted the freshness of the meats used in the food preparation saying these
may have been prepared several hours earlier devoid of refrigeration, thus
allowing bacteria to accumulate. Cabaya
reminded residents to adhere to the meat inspection ordinance to ensure
public health and safety. |
