Overview:
Under
the direction of the VP, Product Development and the Plant Manager, San
Antonio, the Manager of Product Development will focus on expanding our
alternative form supplement with a high degree of focus and expertise in
the gummy format. This position will work closely with Marketing,
Production, Procurement and the manufacturing plant to make great tasting,
consumer preferred gummies. He/She will also
investigate development & commercialization of other suitable formats
for bringing supplements to market. Labs, manufacturing and development
capabilities are in San Antonio, TX, the site of NBTY's gummy
manufacturing. There will be significant to and interaction with our NY
office.
Responsibilities:
- High degree of scientific
expertise
- Lead our development efforts
- Work with our manufacturing
facility, co-packers and consultants
- Work in a hands on
environment to launch close n line extension and new flavors
- Work at a strategic level,
bringing in new innovative products to the business
- Evaluate the overall technical
competence of the NBTY PD team
- Perform other duties as
assigned
Experience:
- 5 years
experience in food or nutrition industry with experience in
confectionery products

Bench
top, Pilot Plant , Process Scale up to Plant
Start-up experience in confections strongly preferred.
- New product development
manager and project management experience
- Must have experience in a PLM
system, MS PowerPoint, Excel, Work and Quark
Education
- Certification - Licenses & Registrations:
MS
preferred, BS minimum in Food Science, Chemical Engineering or equivalent
Skills:
- Excellent verbal, written and
research skills with a high degree of professionalism
- Extremely resourceful with a
strong attention to detail
- Capacity to prioritize and
juggle projects simultaneously in an extremely fast paced working
environment
