Postdoctoral Research Associate – Food Safety and Biosecurity – Stillwater, OK

Description:

Conduct research project(s) related to food safety and biosecurity.  Focus areas may include metagenomic studies of microbial ecology related to foodborne pathogens in fresh produce, animals, and the environment, development of rapid molecular detection methods for foodborne pathogens, development of molecular diagnostic procedures and strategies for forensic investigation related to foodborne pathogens, and development of novel control strategies for foodborne pathogens.  Other responsibilities include project management, training and supervising graduate and undergraduate students, contributing to the writing of research proposals, and publishing scientific articles. The incumbent will be working in a brand new laboratory at the National Institute for Microbial Forensics & Food and Agricultural Biosecurity (NIMFFAB), Oklahoma State University.  The position is funded for 18 months and funding beyond that will be dependent upon progress and availability of additional funding.  The salary is commensurate with training and experience.  Information about the NIMFFAB can be found at http://entoplp.okstate.edu/nimffab.  Qualifications: Earned Ph.D. in Food Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or related fields.
