Responsibilities
|
|
1) Provide formulation leadership for new products and
reformulation initiatives
2) Train the R&D team on formulation technology
3) Complete product development projects (concept through
commercialization) within the required timelines and specifications
4) Maintain all project related data as required
5) Provide ‘scale up’ support to assure a successful transition to
product commercialization
6) Lead R&D relationship with multiple accounts as assigned
7) Handle ongoing project deliverables, technical support, written
reports, meeting attendance, status updates, etc.
8) Assess ongoing business related R&D initiatives with customers
and take appropriate action to implement agreed-upon objectives
9) Communicate with internal business partners
10) Solicit information regarding future product requirements with customers
and share data with sales and marketing to collectively address future
opportunities
11) Present innovative concepts and products for internal/external
accounts
12) Initiate projects, lead the supporting cross-functional teams to
their successful completion
13) Coordinate and conduct training for internal employees to support
the launch of new products or the upgrading of older procedures
14) Collaborate/provide technical leadership and/or support to
Operations, Manufacturing, Customer Service and QA in new product
development and product maintenance activities like cost reductions,
shelf stability studies, ingredient substitutions, etc.
15) Confer with R&D Director/Manager and customers as assigned, to
resolve product issues in a timely and professional manner
16) Prepare and present project proposals and project reports based on
completed research
17) Provide training and support to technical services staff regarding
Lab SOPs, informational logs/databases, PCVA process, cook cards, etc.
18) Mentor food technologists and lab technicians as assigned

Requirements
|
|
1) BA / BS degree (4 year) in Meat Science or Food
Technology
2) 3+ years’ experience working in a development lab or pilot plant
3) Hands-on experience with red meat and poultry formulations and
processing equipment in preparing samples for customers
4) Experience with flavorings, seasonings, extracts, etc.
5) Knowledge of equipment – smokehouse, dry room, coolers and freezers,
vacuum packers, bowl choppers, etc.
6) Experience with QA, QC and HACCP a plus
