PepsiCo Nutrition is
central to the Company's future and instrumental in innovation efforts.
This role is integral in helping to shape the organization in these
efforts for the Global Nutrition Group and the Quaker food, snack and
beverage businesses so they reflect company wide
approaches. This position has responsibility for global project and
process management that requires a broad scope and understanding of
international and US nutrition agendas.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Establish, coordinate,
and lead a research program advancing the translation of nutrition
science of our grains portfolio in key clinical areas e.g. heart health,
weight management and diabetes, with specific consumer relevance.
Evaluate and translate
internal and external clinical data to identify market ready
opportunities for the business units and drive the integration of such
opportunities in terms of claims, IP, Positioning, into future product
platforms
A keen understanding of
consumer needs is necessary to design a research program which will
deliver relevant solutions to the business in a format that is readily
applicable in consumer products.
Support PepsiCo
Nutrition senior leadership with key positions on new and emerging
nutrition science, provide presentations to
support business and nutrition leaders on specific research platforms.
Prepare content for the global R&D report which highlights the
nutrition research program.
Enable the organization
to make informed decisions on innovation on health and wellness related
issues in the context of grains, fiber and key health states such as
heart health, weight management and diabetes.
Ability to network
internally, and influence highly matrix teams to achieve the end goal is
a must; key stakeholders will be regulatory, marketing, legal, product
development, consumer insights and business unit leaders.
Identify talent; build
capability and higher levels of competency for scientific research and
rigor within your team to advance the translation of nutrition science in
PepsiCo products to the best possible standard.
Maintain a strong
network with the academic community, key influencers, federal and trade
organizations, in addition to peers within industry.
Leverage position
housed in US business to foster communication and sharing of best
practices across the globe. Build key relationships across a complex
matrix environment with competing priorities, with ability to balance
scientific interests with commercial needs.
Provide leadership to
Quaker regional partners by recognizing opportunities of synergy and
cross collaboration in terms of sharing scientific and technical
insights.
Manage at least one
direct report with the possibility of additional direct reports in the
future.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
PhD with 10+ years experience in Nutrition science research in a
commercial environment. Strong publication record.
Ability to lead a team
and coordinate a scientific program and budget.
Demonstrated ability to
design a clinical program with tangible marketable outcomes for example
claims, IP positioning etc.
Demonstrated ability in
commercially relevant research.
Strong leadership
presence and ability to work and communicate effectively in cross
functional teams, while aggressively working together to meet timelines.
Proven ability to
influence at all levels of the organization.
Excellent
interpersonal, and communication skills
Flexibility and ability
to work with diverse cultural backgrounds, personalities, work styles
with in various levels of the organization.
Champion nutrition
education and training for internal audiences.
Enable sound business
decisions and generate positive business results.
Ability to manage
