Magnus, a leader in the foodservice industry, is seeking a dynamic
individual for immediate opening as a Product Development Scientist at our
corporate headquarters in Fresno, CA. Lyons Magnus
develops, manufacturers, and markets quality products with innovative
packaging to meet the needs of Foodservice, Ingredient, and International
customers.
Overview of Position:
The Product Development Scientist is responsible for completing tasks of
product development as assigned by the VP, Product Development.
Responsibilities:
- Provide the Product
Development Team with science and technology support and leadership.
- Propose and develop new and
innovative products, processes and technologies to support Lyons
continued leadership position in the food ingredient industry.
- Work closely with the Engineering
team to further develop innovative processing techniques.
- Lead longer term technology
based projects.
- Conduct new product
development/experimentation under the direction of the VP, Product
Development.
- Ensure that all product
formulations in the pilot plant are within operating specifications
for the product
- Upon new product development
provide the Raw Materials Technical Manager with all necessary raw
material testing procedures/specifications.
- Upon new product development,
provide the Process Control Technical Manager with all necessary
thermal processing and in-process testing procedures/specifications.
- Upon new product development,
provide the Regulatory Affairs Technical Manager with all necessary
labeling information.
- Upon new product development,
provide the Regulatory Affairs Technical Manager with all necessary
information for theoretical nutritional analysis.
- Provide necessary formulation
information to Cost Accounting for cost structure analysis.
- Provide guidance to Process
Control and Analytical Quality Control Technical Manager during
initial scale-up to commercialization of all products within the
Foodservice product category.
- Assist Quality Control
function with resolution of product complaints.
- Keep in contact with vendors
and suppliers for latest technology and ingredients.
- Attend seminars and classes
relevant to product development and improvements
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities:
- Self-motivated
- Proficient in Excel, Access,
Power Point, and ERP systems.
Education and/or Experience:
- 5+ Years of experience
- Candidate must be a college
graduate with a degree in Food Science, Engineering or Physical
Science.
- Masters Degree and some related
product development experience preferred.
