Our National Security Division is currently seeking a Food Engineering
Research Scientist. This position is located in Columbus, OH.
Primary job responsibilities will include:
• Assessment of food distribution data to support development of stock
and flow models to study foodborne contamination spread.
• Assessment of literature and case study analyses related to foodborne
• Develop mathematical models to assess and evaluate mitigation
strategies for reducing food process vulnerabilities.
• Participation in data reduction, data review, and data compilation.

Education: Bachelor’s (or advanced) Degree in chemical engineering,
agricultural engineering, food engineering, or food science-related
Experience: At least 2 years of experience with any combination of the
following: food processing methods, hazard vulnerability and critical
control point methodology, foodborne pathogens, toxic and hazardous
materials, or basic microbiology. Graduate research in these areas would
be considered as experience.
Skills: Strong mathematical and modeling skills; reasonable understanding
of food industries and food safety procedures; capacity to learn new

THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS
Computer programming experience using C++ or other scientific programming

contamination control), food processing related modeling, and strong
