Principal Scientist, Food and Nutrition Science (3000-12fg)

As Principal Scientist you will support the development and implementation of SGI's food and nutrition science program:
- Principal Scientist would be responsible for developing the R&D aspects of SGI's food and nutrition business
- Ensure a consistent and continuing course of pipeline R&D
- Utilize food and nutrition science skills to generate new product opportunities through design and implementation of pathway engineering experiments, formulation studies, and product testing
- Effectively conduct and manage experimental data analysis and interpretation, and make appropriate recommendations based on the results
- Provide written and oral reports on progress as necessary and assist in the protection of intellectual property through the development and submission of patent applications
- Supervise and guide the professional development of direct reports
- Ensure that all company policies and safety practices are followed


- Ph.D. in Food Science, Nutrition, Fermentation, Biochemistry, Microbiology or other related scientific program
- At least 10 years industry experience in food or nutrition science, microbiology, fermentation, and/or metabolic engineering
- Must have a high level understanding of the regulation of metabolic pathways in microorganisms
- Experience with the characterization and modification of lipid biosynthetic pathways is highly desirable.
