Directs and coordinates all programs to assure quality of company labeled and
private labeled products.
Requires constant interaction with
work group and other departments at the primary work location.
Position requires demonstration of
competency for all on-the-job activities that may have a direct or indirect affect on product safety, legality and/or quality.
Responsibilities include, but are
not limited to:
- Performs duties of Quality
Control Manager in his/her absence.
- Conducts plant inspections for
compliance with good manufacturing practices, including processing,
sanitation, inventory control and quality control procedures.
- Supervise Quality Control
Technicians, personnel scheduling, vacations, payroll hours, and
- Maintain HACCP Program, raw
material Certification of Analysis, letters of Continuing Guarantee, and
Kosher certification of raw materials.
- Maintain product formulas and
Lot Recall Program.
- Assist in product reviews and
- Trained in all Quality Control
Technicians functions; including microbiological testing, production
line testing, and finished product inspecting.
- Manage laboratory supplies and
- Directs test procedures for the
monitoring of product quality attributes and variables.
- Coordinates all quality control
measure activities with supervisory and hourly personnel.
- Maintains cleanliness of work
- Ensures compliance with all
company policies and procedures (EEO, Sexual Harassment, Safety,
Sarbanes Oxley, etc.).
- Performs other duties as
directed by supervision.
- Ensures that all internal and
external food safety and quality policies and procedures are followed.
- Performance of other duties
which are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job,
including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to
attendance policies, and other applicable operating rules, policies and
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/REQUIREMENTS
LICENSE - None required.
MOBILITY - Physically capable of rapid, unimpeded movement to all
areas of plant.
SENSORY - Ability to distinguish color-coded equipment, containers,
label, signs, etc. Ability to view product for proper size and color. Ability
to taste for desired characteristics of various products. Ability to detect
variations in odors, aromas, etc. associated with product standards.
COMMUNICATIONS - Ability to generate written
communication and operate required office equipment. Speech and hearing
abilities that allow the individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in
English and Spanish (in person and via telephone) and/or another language, if
OTHER - Must meet/maintain CDC food
handling requirements and other governmental and/or customer requirements.
Ability to read, comprehend, practice necessary safety procedures, signs,
etc. Ability to work in a 10 degree and 90 degree environment. Ability to
research, ascertain, develop, implement and monitor
required policies and procedures. Ability to wear and use approved,
applicable safety equipment, as needed.
3 - 5 years
experience in food related manufacturing facility.
College degree in Food Science or
Completion of formal management
skills training program.
