Description:

Our client is the global dominant leader in their industry.

They are currently looking for an experienced Product Development Manager with proven experience supporting the development and launch of new Nutritional Foods and Beverages.

This position is based in Southern CA and will report directly to the Senior Director of New Product Development.

This is a hands-on development position but will also be responsible for the commercialization of new products.

There are no direct reports at this time. This is a hands-on type of job.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead R&D & Manufacturing teams on all aspects of food product development from concept through commercialization.

Work with cross functional teams and external contractors to execute and problem-solve.

Develop and manage multiple product development timelines and activities for assigned projects.

Establish & manage cost of goods to meet company goals for test and product launches.

Perform research to gain consumer knowledge; monitor and report on market trends related to key industries.

Write detailed creative and production briefs as necessary for distribution to key parties.

Work with Creative Services, Production and other departments to source and coordinate key elements of infomercial and product development including packaging and collateral.

Support team in creation of strategy documents including, but not limited to

1) Product Strategy Presentation

2) Brand Strategy presentation etc.

Must has a sound understanding of Quality Systems (QC and Regulatory)

Understanding of Consumer Insights (Focus Groups & Sensory Tests)

Requirements:

Must have 5 years of hands on food R&D experience.

Must have a BS in Food Science, Nutrition or similar science. MS is preferred.

Company prefers applicants that have hand on development of Nutritional Foods, Diet Foods or Nutritional Beverages.

Should have some understanding of market trends in the Food and Beverage segments.

Must have strong project management skills (knowledge of project management software a plus).

Good self-initiative and the ability to manage workload with minimal supervision.

Focused creativity with ability to problem-solve and recommend quick action. Analytical; ability to handle and manage spreadsheets, analytics and cost of goods easily.

Excellent verbal communication skills, with ability to work effectively at all levels.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, monitors and summarizes progress of projects.

Self-starter, who needs little handholding and can get up to speed quickly.

Demonstrated ability to build & maintain cross-functional relationships and work collaboratively in a team environment. Leads and directs work of others responsible for assigned tasks.

Having a passion for healthy or nutritional foods is a definite plus!

Must have a full command of Microsoft office suite of products.

Must be willing to travel occasionally
