The Sr Technologist is responsible for:
1. The coordination of complex and multi
disciplined product development projects with minimal supervision.
This includes ensuring that objectives, budget, and timelines are met.
2. Conduct bench, pilot plant, and plant trials to create prototypes for
3. The identification and/or innovative creation of new & unique
concepts/ingredients/formulas/prototypes to achieve business goals of
commercializing new products and product forms.
3. Practical application/modification of existing technologies to achieve
business goals of commercializing new products or line extentions.
4.Works in a team environment ensuring alignment
with cross functional partners including Marketing, QC, Process Development,
Packaging Development, Finance, Operations, and Purchasing.
5. Providing technical specifications and support to assure smooth rollouts
of new products or line extensions into operations
6. Comprehensive product documentation to enable smooth commercialization and
training of plant personnel.
1-(60%) Identification, assessment, and validation of formulations from bench
top to commercialization.
2-(15%) Ensures all proper documentation is done correctly and on schedule.
3-(10%) Manages the financial aspects of Product Development including
ingredient costs and plant trials.
4-(5%) Fosters an innovation culture by continually introducing new ideas and
5-(5%) Creates, designs, supervises the development of new experimental
protocols/best practices required to validate product concepts and
6-(5%) Independently directs the activities of outside vendors including
ingredients and services.
This position requires the ability to interact and communicate effectively
with Sr. Management as well as Plant Management. The Sr. Technologist must be
a good problem solver, able to identify, interpret and analyze the correct
data, and provide detailed directions to development projects.
Maintains active knowledge and understanding in areas beyond Product
Development including Process and Package Development, QA, Project
Engineering, and thorough understanding of Marketing needs and financial
Sustain a high level of competence and professionalism in a dynamic
Easily adapts to changing priorities
Food Science, Food Process Engineering, or Chemical Engineering with Product
5-8 years of related experience with a consumer packaged goods background -
Desired experience with snacks and bakery unit operations: eg: Bread, cookie, cracker, chips, bars, doughs, etc
Excellent analytical skills, strong attention to details, good
communications and interpersonal skills
Ability to handle and lead multiple projects at any given time in a team
Passion for food science and product development relating to Fresh Bakery
Candidate should be
well versed in Microsoft Excel and Word and have excellent analytical and decision
making skills, project management and writing skills.
