Project Manager Labeling-Food Safety

Coordinates food ingredient label entry and reviews by assigning review tasks; overseeing project timelines; and acting as a subject matter expert in review process.
Designs, implements, and manages food labeling compliance program for both Sam's Club and Walmart private brand product, and store or club labeled product, by ensuring food labels comply with federal, state, and local laws; and partnering with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance.
Tracks, investigates, and develops plans to address new labeling requirements by working closely with key internal and external stakeholders to review and determine legal requirements related to labeling compliance.
Responds to urgent food labeling issues by determining steps needed to address; working with merchants, regulators, private brands and store and club operations; and informing key stakeholders of pending issues and outcomes.
Demonstrates up-to-date expertise in food product labeling and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices; supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs; and building commitment for perspectives and rationales.
Provides and supports the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders; identifying business needs; determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices; monitoring progress and results; recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; and adapting to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities.
Models compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by incorporating these into the development and implementation of business plans; using the Open Door Policy; and demonstrating and assisting others with how to apply these in executing business processes and practices.

Bachelor s degree in Food Science, Food Microbiology, Agriculture, or related field OR 3 years experience in food labeling in the food retail, food service, or food manufacturing sector, or related field. He or she must have knowledge of federal and state food labeling regulations, research capabilities and be able to provide expert advice and guidance to both internal and external customers. This person must have effective communication and influence skills. He or she must be highly organized, analytical, and an excellent problem solver. Research, communication and decision making are daily responsibilities. Associate must be a self-starter, must be able to multi-task, and have a high sense of urgency and integrity.

3+ years experience in food labeling in the food retail, food service, or food manufacturing sector, or related field. Experience working with a third party consulting firm or regulatory agency; Masters degree in Food Science, Food Microbiology, Agriculture, or related field.
