Position Summary:
Working
within specifically defined project goals, this position performs research
and development tests, gathers and documents data, and reports testing
results.
Principal Accountabilities
1.
Responsible for assisting in planning, coordination and execution of
specific tasks pertaining to researching and testing of assigned project. Work is carried out under supervision of
project manager.
2.
Accountable for assisting in planning, coordination and execution of lab,
pilot plant, and plant tests and experiments as needed for the project.
3.
Accountable for providing and maintaining written test documentation,
including up-to-date lab books containing accurate results of all
experiments, tests, formulations used, analytical results, and other
pertinent information.
4.
Accountable for maintaining good housekeeping in assigned Technology areas,
following established practices, processes, and procedures, maintaining a
safe work environment, and for practicing and enforcing BAF safety
policies.
Must maintain the
highest standards of ethics and integrity while embodying the tenets of
"What We Stand For" and "The Basic Principles."
Must maintain the
highest standards of data management by creating consistent, reliable data
which will ensure accuracy and in turn, maximize the use of data and confidence
in decision making.
Proactively manage
safety by ensuring compliance with all Federal and State regulations and
internal Company policies. Regularly complete behavior based safety
observations. Ensure unsafe conditions are corrected in a timely manner.
All employees are
responsible for upholding the principles of SQF 2000.
All employees are responsible for immediately reporting any
food safety, food quality or plant security issues to management for
appropriate action.

Education
and/or Experience
Currently enrolled
in a Food Science program as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior.
Language
Skills
Ability to read and
interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before
groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical
Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure,
using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and
percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning
Ability
Ability to apply
common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written,
oral, or diagram form. Ability to
deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized
situations.
Computer
Skills
Proficiency in use
of personal computers – must be capable of inputting and analyzing data on
a computer. Basic knowledge of
Microsoft Office applications is required.
