A group of MBA students from Bangalore were admitted to Gandhi Hospital on Friday
following symptoms of food poisoning
As many as 86 MBA final year student of New Horizon
College of Engineering in Bangalore came to Hyderabad on Wednesday for an
industrial tour. The students and faculty members checked into Sai Krupa
Hotel at Chikkadpally. As part of the tour, on Thursday, the team visited a
soft drinks factory and then went to the
Golconda Fort. After that they went to visit the Charminar. "While
returning from Charminar, the group stopped at Abids for shopping when four
students started vomiting. The whole group immediately returned to the
hotel and those who were sick were treated at a private clinic,"
Chikkadpally SI Satyanarayana said.
Later in the night, most of the students had vegetarian dinner at Sai Krupa
while some others bought biryani from two well-known hotels.
In the wee hours of Friday, 16 persons, including students and two children
of one of the faculty members, started vommiting and suffered dysentery.
Faculty members with the help of the hotel staff rushed the students to
Gandhi Hospital.
"By afternoon on Friday four students were discharged. Twelve others
are still undergoing treatment. Their condition is stable,'' Satyanarayana
said.
However, Chikkadpally police registered a case under Section 269
(negligently doing any act known to be likely to spread infection of any disease dangerous to life) of the
IPC against Sai Krupa Hotel management.
GHMC health sanitation wing officials collected food and water samples from
hotel for examination.
