Job Description

Hardee's Food Systems, Inc., a leader in the quick serve restaurant industry and a subsidiary of CKE Restaurants, Inc., has an immediate opening for a Product Development Manager or SR Food Technologist to work from our headquarters office located in downtown St. Louis. Reporting to the Director of Product Development and Optimization, this candidate will be responsible for the successful development, testing and implementation of new food products and product improvements. The candidate will be responsible for surveying the competition and conducting literary research for new products and/or concepts within a test kitchen environment. Establishes time-lines for new product development in order to support both market tests and national rollouts. Develops and directs new product recipes and preparation procedures in the test kitchen to ensure consistency and overall product integrity. Identifies and directs potential vendors in conjunction with purchasing new products and effectively leveraging their outside technical capabilities. Determines initial food costs and ensures cost effectiveness in the product formulation. Provides technical expertise and support for food photography and live action film, POP materials and packaging. Assists in developing instore procedures, evaluates for optimal operational performance in conjunction with Operations Services.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: - BS in Food Science or related field - 3-5 years combined experience in product development/R&D and preferably restaurant operations - Ability to work creatively in a test kitchen environment in the production of new products - Working knowledge of all types of restaurant equipment - Experience in the formulation/production of bakery, sauces and protein products a real plus - Excellent project management and organizational skills - Overnight travel required; approximately 30% - Excellent knowledge of research and development methodology and the scientific process of problem solving - Working knowledge of MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook)
