The Senior Food Technologist will be responsible for developing frozen food products from bench top through pilot plant trials and into manufacturing/commercialization.
Provide the necessary leadership to gather information relative to product concept, participate in pretrial meeting, coordinate the transition of the product to manufacturing and provide appropriate information to plant QA staff. This includes developing food product prototypes from proposed concepts along with matching capabilities.
Serve as a communication link that interacts with customers, Sales, Purchasing, QA, Engineering and other Ralcorp Frozen Bakery Products disciplines.
Develop consumer materials and product presentations for Sales and Customer groups.
Perform analyses, tests and experiments to develop and/or improve products and materials, and develop new processing methods.
Make recommendations based on consumer expectations and plant capability.
Develop technical information for customer packaging and specifications by working with Sales, QA, and outside technical experts.
Maintain ingredients, product samples and technical information as needed to perform above functions.
Assemble R&D product samples and provide product technical data for sales and customers.
Must be able to travel.
Other duties and/or projects as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Demonstrable networking contacts within the food industry.
Integrated into the understanding of market/business knowledge relative to the commercialization of food product.
Proven leadership capabilities on team oriented projects and plant trials.
Knowledgeable with US and Canadian Food Regulatory laws and requirements.
BS in Food Science or other technical degree.
Minimum of three years product development experience in a manufacturing environment.
