The District Manager is a management position on the Operations team reporting to the Regional Manager. The primary focus of this position is to organize, motivate and lead a highly calibrated Quality Management Specialist team. In addition, the District Manager must possess an in-depth understanding of the food safety business, Steritech protocols and procedures and specific customer brand requirements to ensure a high level of service to the client and to facilitate excellent communication to the team. The Bluegrass District covers a territory from Southern Indiana & Ohio, West VA, Kentucky and Central Tennessee. The District Manager manages a group of 12-14 specialists in the territory.

Essential Job Duties

  Calibrate Specialists at required frequency to ensure quality of service

  Hire and train new Specialists

  Provide performance and career development feedback to Specialists

  Perform a minimum of 30 hours of audits per month

  Ensure all audits are conducted on time within District

  Verify that Specialists are optimizing their time, travel and costs

  Expeditiously respond to complaints and requests for information

  Maintain expert knowledge of Food Code, Good Manufacturing Practices, and specific customer brand requirements

  Establish and maintain effective professional and consultative relationships at all levels throughout the organization

  Maintain the confidence of key client contacts in order to retain and increase the volume and quality of business allocated to Steritech.

  Perform all other duties as assigned

Requirements

Position Requirements

  Must have at least 2 years experience managing a team and at least 1 of the following:

  Bachelor's degree in Food Science or Environmental Health

  Bachelor's degree with at least two (2) years experience in food protection

Also required:

  Experience training employees or groups

  A valid driver's license and good driving record

  Excellent computer skills - Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools is required

  This position requires overnight travel; Up to 75% or 15 days a month. Candidates must be willing to travel by car on a daily basis and by plane as needed

Desired Skills and Experience

  Experience in conducting audits or working in a Quality Assurance capacity a plus

  ServSafe, CP-FS, REHS/RS Certification(s) a plus

  Consistent travel experience in a current or previous position a plus

  Strong verbal and written communication skills

  Candidates must be well organized and comfortable working independently

  Strong technical knowledge of food safety is preferred
