Qualifications: Ph.D. with postdoctoral training in biology, food science, animal science or applied mathematics

Position Description: The Department of Animal and Food Sciences within the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources invites applications for up to three tenure-track positions in Integrative Food Animal Biology. The successful applicants will develop and lead externally-funded research programs utilizing innovative approaches to study the systems biology of domestic animals or the production, safety and quality of animal food products. Systems of interest include but are not limited to: genetics, reproduction, lactation, growth and development, metabolism, immunity, food/muscle quality, microbiology, and applied mathematics. Successful candidates are expected to organize and participate in collaborative teams of Department, University and external partners to develop systems-based, multi-disciplinary approaches to these problems. Research programs should incorporate the use of genetics, genomics, proteomics, metabolomics and/or biostatistics. The Department offers excellent laboratory space and extensive shared facilities and equipment for molecular biology, genomics, proteomics, bio-imaging, bio-statistics and for animal and food production.

Teaching responsibilities will include a primary role in developing and delivering an undergraduate course integral to the Department‚
€™s curriculum as well as an advanced undergraduate or graduate course in the appointee‚€™s discipline. The individuals will also be responsible for academic advisement of undergraduate students and mentoring of graduate students and post-doctoral research associates. Candidates are expected to participate in the University‚€™s nationally recognized undergraduate student research program.
