Position Summary:
As a Regulatory
Affairs Specialist (Scientist II) for Burt’s Bees, you will work with a
team of regulatory professionals located in Durham, North Carolina to
maintain a robust global registration and compliance program for our
personal care products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Global product registration
and notification activities, including coordination, collection and
collation of documentation to prepare accurate regulatory
packs/dossiers for submission
- Participate in cross
functional product development and commercialization teams,
providing guidance on global regulatory requirements and strategies
- Ensure global compliance of
cosmetic and OTC products:
- Conduct global raw material
and formulation reviews
- Review and approve new and
modified products and claims
- Review and approve product
packaging/labeling and marketing communication materials
- Initiate and review product
safety assessments as performed by external consultants to ensure
regulatory and safety compliance
- Remain current with new
regulations and regulatory changes, interpret complex information
and summarize the impact for other functions, as appropriate
- Work collaboratively to
develop and implement robust regulatory strategies
- Contribute to the
development and implementation of effective documentation and data
control management for compliance files

Qualifications:
|
Qualifications & Skills:
- BSc. in chemistry, biology,
or a related life science discipline with 3+ years of experience in
the cosmetic, personal care or related industry
- Ability to understand and
interpret technical and regulatory documents
- Knowledge of global
cosmetic and OTC drug regulations e.g. The Food Drug and Cosmetic
Act (FD&C), The Fair Packaging and Labeling Act (FPLA), Good
Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), as well as EU, Canada and Asian
international cosmetic regulations, a strong plus
- Experience with cosmetics
regulatory submissions desirable
- Experience in food, medical
device and/or dietary supplements industry a plus
- Excellent communication,
interpersonal and organizational skills
- Detail oriented to produce
accurate and timely results
- Ability to handle multiple
priorities & work independently
- Collaborative, team player
- Strong computer skills
- European or Asian languages
