POSITION Director - Food Manufacturing/Food Process

DEPARTMENT: Plant REPORTS TO: SVP Operations

Position Summary: Plan, direct and coordinate the work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing /processing of products in the meat, seafood, deli and prepared food departments in accordance with cost, quality and quantity specifications.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

·         Review Operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems

·         Review processing schedules or production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, considering budgets and plant operational flow.

·         Coordinate or recommend procedures for department processes, equipment purchase or modifications to existing plant operations

·         Develop or implement tracking procedures for quality control, analyzing production, systems, maintenance, and labor utilization

·         Set and monitor product standards to ensure finished products are of prescribed consumer quality.

·         Maintain safety and sanitation standards according to corporate specifications and stay in compliance with federal, state and local regulations.

·         Must have familiarity in preparation of meat products using equipment such as grinders, saws, wrapping machines, packaging machines, scales, etc.

Supervision Received:

Plans and carries out work assignments; resolves most conflicts which arise; coordinates work with others as necessary; interprets policy on own initiative in terms of established objectives. Keeps leader informed of progress, potentially controversial matters, or far-reaching implications

Supervisory Duties:

Trains and assigns work to Team members on an occasional basis; performs the same work as the group on a regular basis.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

·         BA/BS in Business, Finance, Operations Research, Engineering or related

·         Five plus (5+) years experience food manufacturing processing positions with increasing responsibilities;

·         Five plus (5+) years in positions with multiple direct reports; Three plus (3+) years in a role reporting directly to senior management

·         Prior work experience in operations, food processing or manufacturing a plus;

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

·         Must have considerable knowledge of HACCP, SSOP and GMPs as it applies to the food industry

·         Current knowledge of regulatory government requirements (i.e. FDA, USDA, etc.) rules and regulations

·         Relevant Operations management experience in food manufacturing

·         Must have strong analytical and data - driven skill set

·         Experience in non - union environments a plus

·         Experience with "hands - on" projects ( production, safety, labor management)

·         Expertise in food safety (Raw and ready-to-eat)

·         Quality systems standards, including GMPs

·         Food microbiology, analytical chemistry, and sensory methods

·         Must possess strong leadership, communication and organizational skills.

·         Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Working Conditions:

·         Work environment includes plant, warehouse, production and non-production areas and plant grounds

·         ·This position may require approximately 5% travel and work/maintenance coverage beyond the normal hours, shift, and on weekends/holidays

·         Ability to tolerate temperatures of 35 degrees or below while working in the plant.
