applications for the position of Quality Technician – Food Safety in Emporia, KS.
As a Quality Technician – Food Safety for Hill’s, you will
support the attainment of Quality Key Performance Indicators
(KPIs) by implementing and maintaining food safety, sanitation, and customer
complaint programs. You will also serve as the primary back-up
for processes such as hold/release, product traceability and recall,
and regulatory compliance.
As a Quality
Technician – Food Safety, you will work in a friendly, team-oriented

Responsibilities
for this position include:
·
Understands and is accountable for full
compliance with safety and other EOHS requirements.
·
Ensures that the food processing equipment, floors,
and facilities have been properly cleaned and sanitized in accordance with
all applicable laws and regulations and by outside agencies such as FDA,
USDA, and AIB pertaining to a food manufacturing facility.
·
Coordinates the Plant’s food safety programs such as
sanitation, pest control, and quality control and ensures the integration
of activities and follow ups.
·
Performs pre-operative inspection of equipment and
premises, once food safety activities have been completed.
·
Monitors consumer complaint trends and ensures that
all returned samples and complaints are fully investigated and documented.
·
Acts as the liaison between the Plant and Corporate
Headquarters regarding customer complaints.
·
Assists in the creation and implementation of
Standard Operating Procedures to insure compliance will all plant,
corporate and governmental agency policies.
·
Trains and/or updates plant personnel on Quality and
Food Safety procedures.
·
Manages 3rd party contractors and/or
outside service providers:
·
Monitors sanitation/cleaning process to ensure
compliance with regulations and procedures are in accordance with all
company standards.
·
Will work any shift as needed, as well as
troubleshoot quality issues over the phone during off hours.
·
Other job duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Basic
Qualifications:
·
Associates degree in a science field required;
Bachelors degree preferred.
·
Must be able to pass OSHA criteria for respirator
usage (respirator required for applying pesticides).
·
Ability to work in all types of seasonal weather.
·
Ability to climb, crawl, and kneel as needed to
perform the functions of the job.
·
Ability to work an off-shift work schedule that
includes weekends.
·
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Preferred
Qualfications:
·
Minimum 1-2 years of manufacturing work experience.
·
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
·
Previous supervisory work experience preferred.
·
Work experience in reviewing and understanding
microbiological data.
·
Knowledge of HACCP and Statistical Process Control
(SPC).
·
Role model c-GMPs.
·
Computer skills including email, Microsoft Word,
Excel and Powerpoint, and data base management.
·
Possession of a Kansas Commercial Pest Control
Operators License and ASQ Certified Quality Auditor / or Tech preferred.
·
Previous auditing experience working with American
Institute of Baking (AIB), Food and Drug Administration, and or United
States Department of Agriculture (USDA) highly preferred.
