Associate Food Scientist – Memphis, TN

custom batters, breadings, coatings, spices,
seasonings, capsicums and functional ingredients for food
manufacturers and the foodservice industries.
We have an immediate opening for an
Associate Food Scientist in our Memphis, Tennessee office.
The Associate Food Scientist is
responsible for blending seasoning, batter and breading, conducting
analytical tests and assisting in product demonstration.
Responsibilities include, but are
not limited to:
- Blend seasonings, batters and breaders and conduct breader
bakes.
- Conduct analytical tests on
Newly Weds Foods and competitors’ products.
- Assist in the preparation of
finished samples, reconstituting and plating for product demonstration
and presentations.
- Work in conjunction with the
Quality Control team in review of production material for the
determination of release or rejection.
- Continue learning ingredient
functionality through supplier meetings, participation in supplier
presentations, Newly Weds Foods in-house training programs, and actively
engaging in off-site seminars and education initiatives.
- Maintain accurate
project/product files and data.
- Support Sr. Product Development
Scientists with formula and specification entry in AS400.
- Read, analyze and interpret
food-industry periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures
or governmental regulations.
- Write reports, business
correspondence, procedure manuals and possess the ability to present
information and respond to questions from the organization’s internal
and external customers.
- 50%-60% Travel may be required.
- Perform other duties or special
projects as needed.
The ideal candidate will possess the
following:
- Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in
Food Science, Nutrition, Biology or Chemistry.
- Two to Five years
experience
- Strong communication,
interpersonal skills and general knowledge in Adobe applications, MS
Office, AS400 and Lotus Notes.
